JACKSON, Cal. – February 1, 2024 – Commitment to community service runs deep at Daneri Mortuary, and more than a year since it was sold to Winter Park, Florida-based Foundation Partners Group, that commitment to Jackson and the surrounding area is stronger than ever.
Located at 415 Broadway in Jackson, Daneri Mortuary has provided professional, compassionate funeral and cremation services to Amador and Calaveras County families for more than a century. Daneri Mortuary also owns and operates Amador Hills Cremation and Funeral Service in Pine Grove, Amador Memorial Cemetery in Pioneer, and Sunset View Cemetery in Jackson.
“Our team is like family, now it’s a bigger family,” said General Manager Regina Schowengerdt, who has served as a funeral director and preneed counselor at Daneri Mortuary since January 2006. “We’re a local company with national resources and in 2023 those resources allowed us to expand our support for community organizations and deserving individuals. Supporting residents through some of the most difficult days of their lives is more than a job for us. This is our community, and we value the trust residents have placed in us for decades. The service we provide is very personal to us.”
Schowengerdt could not be prouder of her team and the many community outreach projects completed over the past year.
Jackson Elementary School Teacher Appreciation Day
Last October, the Daneri team asked every teacher to create a $50 Amazon “wish list” of school supplies. The team purchased those supplies for more than 20 teachers, packaged them in custom bags and delivered all, along with lunch, to the teachers and entire Jackson Elementary School staff, who were extremely grateful.
“Teachers frequently have to reach into their own pocketbooks to purchase extra enrichment materials for their students,” Schowengerdt said. “The fun and creative items requested by the teachers were amazing. Going forward, we hope to do this at a different school in the county at least once each school year.”
Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program
For the first time in 2023, the Daneri team set out to help create a memorable Christmas for a local family. They “adopted” a single mother with three children, ordered everything on their holiday wish lists, and delivered the gifts to their home along with a Christmas Eve brunch, which they shared with the family.
“The three beautiful children were so grateful,” said Schowengerdt.” It was a day I will never forget. We plan to adopt a family every year.”
Following the brunch, the mom wrote, “We are beyond grateful for you. I owe you ladies so very much. Seriously, it means so much more to me than you know. Sending you much love and happiness. I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas.”
Ongoing Community Outreach
In addition to the teacher appreciation and holiday adopt-a-family programs, the Daneri Mortuary team supports the Hospice of Amador and Calaveras with financial donations and an annual breakfast for their dedicated team; provides $100 Target gift certificates to residents of New Hope Home, a structured Christian sober living home for women; and sponsors a series of appreciate luncheons at the Amador County Coroner’s office.
“We’ve always been active in our community, as a team and as individuals, but last year we were able to do more than ever before,” Schowengerdt said. “Daneri Mortuary is a place of comfort and healing for grieving families and a community asset. We look forward to further extending our reach into the community and showing even more residents how much we care.”
